Two Daughters of This Aged Stream drifts in tidal blues and violet fire: two water-born figures turning in the current, hair like sea-green ribbons, a song at the lip of the wave. Paula Arciniega lets baroque rhythm move through color—an invitation to circle, to breathe, to be carried where the river meets the sea.
Commissioned by Opera Atelier, this work echoes the water-nymph duet from Henry Purcell’s King Arthur (libretto by John Dryden), where the daughters of the stream beckon the listener to “come bathe with us.”
