Pictures at an Exhibition Reimagined is a graphic interpretation of the musical composition, written in 1874, by Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky, titled, “Pictures at an Exhibition”
Each of Mussorgsky‘s musical illustrations is based on drawings by friend, collaborator, and architect, Victor Hartman. There are 10 titled movements with Promenade interludes in between. The suite depicts Mussorgsky himself touring the exhibition viewing Hartman’s work.
Paula’s collection will use Mussorgsky’s music as inspiration for her interpretation of each titled movement and promenade. As she has done in the past with other composers, Paula will let the intensity of the musical elements of rhythm, harmony and melody, guide, and direct the visual images she creates.
